Elafonisi
Elafonisi is located at the southwesternmost part of Crete, 43km away from Kasteli and 76km from Chania. The water of the beach is so shallow that you can walk the distance of about 100m to the small island. The pink-coloured sand makes this beach unique. This hue is caused by a rare coral reef.
Elafonisi is also a historical area. In the Easter of 1824 the Ottomans killed 850 Cretans, mostly women and children, to revenge the Cretans for their revolution.
